Here's How It Works

There are four of them, and all four have a zip. Two sit high on the chest, which is where you want the thing you reach for most — phone, glasses, a tag, a card — because at chest height gravity is on your side no matter what you're doing. Two more sit low and diagonal at the hands, deep enough for keys and a wallet and angled so you can get into them while you're moving.

The zip up the front runs two ways. Pull it down from the top to open up, or up from the hem to let air through the middle while the collar stays closed. That is the whole point of a stand collar: your neck stays out of the wind while the rest of you cools off.

Now the honest part. This is not a warm vest. There is no padding and no lining — it is a single light layer. What it does is add a windproof front and four secure pockets to whatever you already have on. Put it over a jumper on a cold morning and it works. Put it over a t-shirt in July and it will not keep you warm, because it was never built to.

That is also why it is worth having. A padded gilet is too warm by ten in the morning. This one you leave on.
